Is there such thing as ghosts?

Its not even Hungry Ghost festival yet, however I have no idea why this ghost story-telling-session has been going on and on throughout this week. It first started with my new co-sharing colleague who shared his highway ghost stories, then followed by haunted houses, some “thing” staring at another colleague of mine from one corner in her previous office. My co-sharing boss also shared his hotel ghost stories which one of my colleagues even suggested us to knock everytime before we enter the room.

Everyone was fighting to stand a chance to share their personal encounter with that “thing”. Including me. My story scored the greatest hits so far, for being the scariest, the one that can make your bulu naik. One thing I noticed about everyone telling me, during their encounter with ghosts, which all of a sudden, everyone has a religion to rely on, they will be making their individual prayers or holding on to their prayer book to sort of ward off the "things" that are disturbing them.

[God Vs Ghosts] Of course, God wins.

I remembered creating stories when I was in primary five [I was really good in this] to win as much attention I could from my fellow peers. As far as I could recall, I once told them, when my mum was cooking, I saw a hand holding the spatula when my mum was busy searching for the salt. That story intrigued one parent to come up to me after school and ask whether I need a master to clear that bad “qi” in my house. I cut down in sharing ghost stories with my friends that instance, just in case their parents contact my parents on this.

At times, Jojo would stop playing and bark at nothing out of no reason. Could it be “something”? I have no idea. Speaking of Jojo, she cried in the middle of the night last night that led me in jumping out of my bed. The poor honey couldn’t sleep as my housemates forgot to switch off the lights. [It was too bright for her to sleep.]

So, are you afraid of the unseen realm?

Do share as I love to watch and listen to horror stories. Exorcist gets the top position in my must-watch list. :)

What a Jinx.

It never crossed my mind to witness these incidents on such a good day yesterday - daddy's birthday and dumpling festival.

My heart stopped that instant when i heard the small explosion "bong!". I wanted to carry on walking towards the supermarket when I heard a loud shriek "Ah!". Being a kaypoh Malaysian, I brisk walked to where the shriek came from. "OMG!" A man was seen lying on the road, bleeding and crying in pain. I called the ambulance instantly. As much as I wanted to accompany the old man and comfort him, he was already surrounded by kind souls who took care of him. I then, did my grocery shopping and had dinner there as well.[Oh by the way, it was a hit-and-run accident, I was so angry with that heartless driver whilst having my dinner. Hmmph!]

My heart thumped once more when I saw a number of police cars surrounding my apartment as I walked back. "What now?" My first thought was, maybe someone jumped to death. A staff at Watsons made her clarification voluntarily when I merely smiled at her, "no, Jaya One collapsed."

Jaya One shopping mall, one of the earliest landmarks in Selangor, which even existed when my dad was studying in KL years ago, collapsed and it is situated right next to my apartment. I couldn't believe it when all I could see was a huge mess of and firefighters fighting to rescue the stranded ones inside. It was freaking chaotic and meriah at my apartment. It was also my first time seeing so many police, firemen, rescue team and reporters gathered together performing individual roles.

What made it worse when I had to hold myself back from calling my parents to share this breaking news as they were enjoying an Italian dinner prior to my dad's big day. I felt like the worst gossiper when I managed to blah all out to my mum finally, at 9:30pm.

It was however interesting, when such incidents happen, strangers who are so not your friends, actually take a glance at you, forcing a smile on their face, wanting to share what happened, what they observed. If only, Malaysians are that friendly everyday. Residents in my apartment too, became friendly and each shared every posssible precious detail they grasped from someone else. What made me want to puke when this resident told me, the first dead victim the firemen managed to pull out had shrunk to a baby size figure. I think what he meant was, the upper torso and the lower part may have been disattached and hence, the size of a baby. Eeeww.

And yes, I had a nightmare that night.

Chaos, chaos, chaos everywhere.

Crime rates are moving on a crescendo level whilst the BIG flu is attacking anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Despite the humid weather we're suffering from in KL, I still made a trip to Yogyakarta last month which provided us hotter weather. Borobudur wowed me with its majestic sight and right after I snapped the 1st photo there, my brand new Canon powershot E1 decided to quit. Cursings did nothing to wake my baby blue camera from the dead. [Its ok now though.]

My 1st photo in Borobudur

Food in Yogyakarta is basically dry but the lauk were juicy inside. Yes, such opposites. There were waroengs everywhere like this selling different kinds of food. [I miss the ikan bakar at Baron Beach!]
Waroeng Sample

I managed to get a glimpse [and snapped a photo] of a man showering by the drain and yes, he has to be naked to shower. It was a fun and interesting trip despite the panaroia of getting infected with hepatitis A [dirty water and dirty cutleries], getting cheated [by touts], getting robbed [pick-pockets concerned].

Eng Translation: Beware, Many Children.

A day after I came back from the trip, I MC-ed for the first time in my life as I was vomiting previous lunch and dinner all day long. I crawled in and out of the kitchen to boil myself gingery porridge and gingery drink all day long too.

The vomiting incident caused me to lose weight, or so I think. My waist line has shrunk, causing my pants and skirt to look baggy on me. Forget about my previous fat-skinny post, I think I have lost that extra fat in me. Speaking of weight loss, this guy in a smart business attire came shuffing an ad to me yesterday, promoting weight loss programme to me.

...
Due to the weight loss, I decided to consume rich food like the pork knuckles I had at Brotzeit, Vivocity last Saturday. TH and I sort of spent a few seconds debating on what the pronounciation of Brotzeit will likely be. In the end, who cares when the crispy, crispy, oily pork knuckles satisfied our taste buds.

Thanks to ZQ too, who made the effort to make my dream [movie-watching in Singapore] come true. Haha.

Last but not least, I think its also time to put the infamous name to a face.

Tadaa...
Meet Jojo Wong Lee Lo

Note: My apologies for the half-hearted writing. *Sorry*

Malaysians are not so funny

NTV7 labelled Wednesday as the day of blues unofficially and decided to slot in supposedly humorous two sitcoms starting from 8:30pm. The first was PCK Sdn Bhd which is obviously the Malaysian version, with original PCK and Rosie starring and the rest were other Malaysian actors and actresses whom I think were not able to match the "siao-ness" of Chu Beng, Margaret, Aloysius and the 2 tau huay lovers. Hence, the smile forcely planted on my face to prove that this is a supposedly entertaining sitcom.

Then came the first episode of Mr. Siao's Mandarin Class last night right after PCK Sdn Bhd, it is a supposedly Malaysian version of Mind your Language - which was incredibly funny as I could still remember Mr. Brown vividly. Thanks to the excellent review of this sitcom in The Star yesterday, I managed to plant high hopes for this until 9pm which I got struck by great disappointment 5 minutes after watching it. I couldn't recall wat happened 25 minutes later as I dozed off with Jojo licking my toes.

Nevertheless..

I will still stay tune to these two sitcoms next Wednesday at 8:30pm sharp though, due to the lack of entertainment I could grasp from national channels.

Jojo's decision

Due to several reasons, my Boss declared her unwillingness in taking the master bedroom anymore since Feb. Hence, the notice seeking for friendly housemates was pasted downstairs my house. Weeks flew by, calls came, unfortunately no one went up to check the master bedroom out. Simply put, the price put them off.

My boss decided to change her strategy last week and offered to foot a small portion of the rent every month. The new indicated price did interest several, but no confirmations were made till yesterday. Two girls were tempted by the new price and friendly housemates - Ellyn, Jojo and I, hence the immediate confirmation upon seeing the room.

The whole point of this non-fiction story is that, Jojo was the one who decided who our new housemates should be.

Incident 1: A huge Indian lady came and loved the room immediately. Jojo loved her too but the lady was discouraged by the price and was very afraid of Jojo.

Incident 2: Two ladies came. One was a Chinese and the other looked like a Filipino. This Chinese lady with grey hair all over was about fifty plus and that Filipino lady looked in her early thirties. As I was busy guessing the most possible relationship between this old Chinese lady and a young Filipino, Jojo barked with all her might at them until they left the house. Obviously, Jojo was not interested in them and they never showed their affection for a cute pup. They loved the room but they never came back to us, guess they found something better too. Upon Jojo's misbehaviour when she met them, I guess I wouldn't allow them to be my housemates.

Morale of the story: Get a dog to decide who your new housemates should be.

My apologies for the illogical story above, I'm too sleepy to admit that I'm drowning in the Monday blues.

Btw, Jojo got her haircut yesterday, she looked like a primary school girl with super short and straight hair, ready to attend school assembly on a Monday.
