Computer illiterate.

Long awaited 23rd June is here.
The end for my internship.
And so I did last minute shopping today for blank DVDs to store what my Boss a.k.a. movie supplier has supplied. I wanted to back off from the computer store I just entered. A grandma was at the counter. It’s a little weird seeing a grandma looking after a computer shop. Surprisingly, she got up and not wanting to be rude, I asked her where the blank DVDs are.

Hmm..Different prices for different brands. So, I stood there for a good 5 minutes choosing 2 pieces of DVDs which costs RM2.60. Striking a conversation with the old grandma enabled me to pay RM2 only. Nope. I did not bully her. She was generous enough to give me discounts. What amazed me most, this old grandma knew everything about computers. I, 21 years of age felt like a loser spending another good 10 minutes listening to this grandma babble about this technology that technology and her history of being a computer engineer once. This grandma is so cool although her eyes can barely open. But I won't wish I have one like her. Its plain scary.

Tokkok: A fat girl with huge boobs standing a few metres away from me was massaging her own boobs at a departmental store. How I wish I could pluck up the courage to advise her to masturbate in the dressing room by herself.

The much dreaded dinner.

I love festivals. Eat. And eat. And eat. Its the ultimate thing to do during festivals. But somehow, I do dread attending big family dinners at times. I love get-togethers, but not when the unlucky me gets interrogated by several aunties and uncles the whole night. This is what happened last night, during the Ba Chang festival.

Questions like what and where I am studying currently are forgivable even though I have given the same reply for the past 2 years, but not when they start comparing (ridiculously) me with other cousins and sons or daughters of their friends which they could think of. I hate putting on a fake smile and nod in agreement even though they have gotten the wrong information. So, I chose to defend myself or clarify the right information with them regardless of how poor my Hakka is.Nevertheless, this was the most popular question they popped up with.

"So, after studying, get married lor. When do you plan to get married?"
Selina: "....?? Er..I will be 22 only when I graduate. What's the rush?"

I can't imagine how am I supposed to face this question for another decade. I think I will dread going to my aunt's house even more.

Shopaholic Fever.

My dad used to tell me how lucky I was to be able to shop at a fancy supermarket since there were no such entertainment during his days. I just stared at him and muttered, "but this is just a supermarket, not even a shopping mall." I got to understand later, where my dad was from, Kudat, a remote area in Sabah. And there we were, shopping at Tong Hing supermarket every weekend when i was young, the oldest supermarket in Kota Kinabalu though.

Years later, my dad was right. Centre Point was opened as the largest shopping mall in Kota Kinabalu. Other key shopping malls like Komplex Karamunsing and Wisma Merdeka accomodated the shopping needs of the people here well. As a well promoted popular tourist-spot city, more demands from the people here and tourists rose followed by the rise of supplies - more shopping malls.

Shopping malls here are sprouting like mushrooms after the afternoon rain. We got our own ice skating rink at Asia City Shopping mall. I still have no idea why is Warisan Square an open-air shopping mall. Don't they understand we prefer all of our shops under one roof? We are having our 3rd Starbucks coffee boutique at City Mall. 1 Borneo is really ambitious. Its the future largest hypermall in East Malaysia and expected to be completed by next year. Suria City Mall is still under construction. So as Megalong Mall. The future longest mall in East Malaysia. Not forgetting the Lintas Station opposite my house which will be launched by the end of this year. Before I end, Sutera Harbour shopping mall is still under construction too.

Due to the limited population here in supporting the growth of these mushrooms here, the Colourful shopping mall and Wawasan shopping mall are kind of neglected though. Nevertheless, my main point here, is to announce the opening of Malaysia's awaiting Mega Carnival Sale on this auspicious day.

16th June 2007 - 2nd September 2007

With so many shopping malls and my going back to KL soon, Shopaholic me is going crazy soon!

Tokkok: After my clients' meeting, I was rewarded a shirt from Giordano as a farewell gift from my supervisor.

Pinckney visit.

Thanks to MSN and daily blogs-stalking, i never worry not being updated by my coursemates regarding their internship. As a result, i tend to admire them for being able to attend glamorous events and meet the high-end people, which Resa gets to see my and her prime minister up-close and Ellyn gets to party more than usual and not forgetting Cheryl Ann Fernando's big name in NST. The poor me is always stuck facing this square-box pc playing around with Indesign or Excel. The farthest place i have ever been is to the clients' offices. Sad.

Well, something unusual blossomed in my stuck-facing-the-pc life yesterday. The appointment in the afternoon has been cancelled. Great. Again! Surf the net as usual. Fortunately, my Boss spied me as the free-est person in the office. So, he brought me out to meet a BIG friend. Its the USS Pinckney DG 91. No idea what it is? Its the 40th Burke-Class destroyer battle ship from San Diego. Yes. They launch missiles. They fight in wars. And yes. Its in KK.

This whole visit to a battle ship is like a dream come true. Commanders welcoming you on board. They are cute and young. All of them. Seriously. You'll want to drool onto their uniforms. The steep staircase. The Communications room. The Navigation room. Their dining room. All of them are so cool. Not forgetting the Chef who is a typical American Black. I have seen these in TV but not so up-close where I can even have a photo shoot of me driving the steering of this huge ship. Pictures are to be uploaded next time due to some technology complications though.

This visit pays everything off. I am satisfied and there is no need for me to envy my coursemates anymore. Thanks to my Boss who made my day once again.

Tokkok: My colleagues and I had KFC for lunch. Not forgetting the cockroach (Siu Keong) on our table which was eating with us too. It was reported on Monday, a girl in Japan got bitten by a rat at McDonald's. What is wrong with fast-food restaurants nowadays?!

3D brainless me.

I have a confession to make. Its not a sin. But its a fault for me. I have several phobias. Name it. Acerophobia (sourness). Coulrophobia (clowns). My mum once bought a photo album with clowns on the cover. I vomited that instance. Seriously.

Another phobia i have which many people do not know. Fear of doing hands-on work. Possible reason might be the 3D brainless me has difficulty in handling hands-on work. Hands-on work here means making a box out of a big piece of cardboard. Cutting something using a pen-knife. Measuring a straight line. Make things out of Manila Cards. That is the reason i have never volunteered and luckily not assigned in the art team since young. Trust me. I am really clumsy in this.

"Lucky" for me today, my supervisor ordered me to make a signage (triangular stand) out of cardboards. Not a signage. Its 10. Gosh. I have nowhere to escape. I could not possibly tell my supervisor I have difficulties in doing these. For many, its easy as pie. For me, its like placing my lower lip over my head. After 1 hour of figuring out the triangle shape, cutting the cardboard into shape, measuring and cutting with a pen knife, i got 8 good ones and 2 rotten ones. I spent another 15 minutes repairing the 2 rotten ones.

Phew..My supervisor took them without grumbling. A little praises though.Maybe I have had some improvements in this. But I still am, 3D brainless.

D' Perils of Magnificent F.R.I.E.N.D.S

3 Most valuable things in life: Love, Self-confidence, Friends.

Fundamentally, friends are the people whom you can depend on. Real friends are always ever-ready when you need a shoulder to lean on and they expect the same service when its their turn. As much happiness that friendship brings, it also brings an amount of equal hardship.

I chose my group of friends. And yes. I chose magnificent to describe them, far from perfect but yet undeniably holds a significant place in my life. Getting to know a real friend takes a lengthy process rather than remembering someone's name for five minutes and conclude the friendship. As time passes, flaws reveal, be it ugly and nasty, it just concludes nothing's perfect.

Be it the forever-busy friend who barely has time for you. Or the she-friend who always loves to shake her right leg when seated. Or the friend who chews loudly, even at a sophisticated restaurant. Or the friend who is so auntie in mind and in action. And the rest of them whom i place high regards to the value of these friendships of these magnificent people i call F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Tokkok: So disappointed with a used-to-be good friend of mine who did not even bother to acknowledge a "Hi". B*tch.

Meredith?

It started with my Boss shouting "Oh Gosh, Meredith is getting married."
I stopped typing that instance. "Did i just hear MEREDITH?"
"Is it really Grey's Anatomy Meredith?"
"OMG, is my Boss really watching Grey's Anatomy?"

Luckily, no one else was at the office, so I rushed to my Boss' office with a sly grin. With the negotiations and Boss' welcome to the Grey's Anatomy fan club, I got to know this new Grey's Anatomy supplier and I got to figure out why the Internet runs slow when Boss is around. Its a no wonder i always find it difficult to download something since Boss' BIT TORRENT is always on.Thanks, Boss. You made my day. Can't wait for the Season 5 he's going to give me next week.

Naughty.

I have a cat. Well, not exactly my own cat. They are all stray. Its a snowy white with sparkling blue eyes. Its a Siamese. I named it Naughty. Did I mention that i have Patchy, Poopy, and Woody too? They will only stay at your house if you're their highest bidder.

Anyway, i shall focus on Naughty only. I hate it. S-e-r-i-o-u-s-l-y. Its beautiful but I shall say it again, I h-a-t-e it. I do not favor cats that much but not to the extent of hateness. Its not only NAUGHTY, its also irritating. Did I mention cats are forgetful too? Cats never intend to repay your good deeds, so unlike dogs.

For instance, NAUGHTY scratched my already-scarred-ankle again when i was pouring her food into a small bucket with loving care. Do you want to know why? Because NAUGHTY thinks its too slow for me to pour the food into the small bucket with loving care, i am so going to throw the food at it next time. You watch out, NAUGHTY!

My aunt dropped by yesterday and NAUGHTY as usual, went around visitors, longing for some caress. My aunt decided to bring NAUGHTY back because its beautiful. I gladly thanked my aunt and bid farewell to NAUGHTY. NAUGHTY waved goodbye too. 30 seconds later, my neighbour's daughter, Leonie walked home from her basketball practice, crying out for her mom. All i heard was "Mommy, someone stole my cat!" Oh Shoot, it was not my fault. I did not know NAUGHTY belonged to someone else and it doesn't have a bell around its neck. How am i supposed to know?

Before Leonie has the right to call me Bad jie jie, i rushed to my aunt's house and dragged NAUGHTY back. So, there. I got my punishment by getting scratches from NAUGHTY last night.
