What a Jinx.

It never crossed my mind to witness these incidents on such a good day yesterday - daddy's birthday and dumpling festival.

My heart stopped that instant when i heard the small explosion "bong!". I wanted to carry on walking towards the supermarket when I heard a loud shriek "Ah!". Being a kaypoh Malaysian, I brisk walked to where the shriek came from. "OMG!" A man was seen lying on the road, bleeding and crying in pain. I called the ambulance instantly. As much as I wanted to accompany the old man and comfort him, he was already surrounded by kind souls who took care of him. I then, did my grocery shopping and had dinner there as well.[Oh by the way, it was a hit-and-run accident, I was so angry with that heartless driver whilst having my dinner. Hmmph!]

My heart thumped once more when I saw a number of police cars surrounding my apartment as I walked back. "What now?" My first thought was, maybe someone jumped to death. A staff at Watsons made her clarification voluntarily when I merely smiled at her, "no, Jaya One collapsed."

Jaya One shopping mall, one of the earliest landmarks in Selangor, which even existed when my dad was studying in KL years ago, collapsed and it is situated right next to my apartment. I couldn't believe it when all I could see was a huge mess of and firefighters fighting to rescue the stranded ones inside. It was freaking chaotic and meriah at my apartment. It was also my first time seeing so many police, firemen, rescue team and reporters gathered together performing individual roles.

What made it worse when I had to hold myself back from calling my parents to share this breaking news as they were enjoying an Italian dinner prior to my dad's big day. I felt like the worst gossiper when I managed to blah all out to my mum finally, at 9:30pm.

It was however interesting, when such incidents happen, strangers who are so not your friends, actually take a glance at you, forcing a smile on their face, wanting to share what happened, what they observed. If only, Malaysians are that friendly everyday. Residents in my apartment too, became friendly and each shared every posssible precious detail they grasped from someone else. What made me want to puke when this resident told me, the first dead victim the firemen managed to pull out had shrunk to a baby size figure. I think what he meant was, the upper torso and the lower part may have been disattached and hence, the size of a baby. Eeeww.

And yes, I had a nightmare that night.

Chaos, chaos, chaos everywhere.

Crime rates are moving on a crescendo level whilst the BIG flu is attacking anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Despite the humid weather we're suffering from in KL, I still made a trip to Yogyakarta last month which provided us hotter weather. Borobudur wowed me with its majestic sight and right after I snapped the 1st photo there, my brand new Canon powershot E1 decided to quit. Cursings did nothing to wake my baby blue camera from the dead. [Its ok now though.]

My 1st photo in Borobudur

Food in Yogyakarta is basically dry but the lauk were juicy inside. Yes, such opposites. There were waroengs everywhere like this selling different kinds of food. [I miss the ikan bakar at Baron Beach!]
Waroeng Sample

I managed to get a glimpse [and snapped a photo] of a man showering by the drain and yes, he has to be naked to shower. It was a fun and interesting trip despite the panaroia of getting infected with hepatitis A [dirty water and dirty cutleries], getting cheated [by touts], getting robbed [pick-pockets concerned].

Eng Translation: Beware, Many Children.

A day after I came back from the trip, I MC-ed for the first time in my life as I was vomiting previous lunch and dinner all day long. I crawled in and out of the kitchen to boil myself gingery porridge and gingery drink all day long too.

The vomiting incident caused me to lose weight, or so I think. My waist line has shrunk, causing my pants and skirt to look baggy on me. Forget about my previous fat-skinny post, I think I have lost that extra fat in me. Speaking of weight loss, this guy in a smart business attire came shuffing an ad to me yesterday, promoting weight loss programme to me.

...
Due to the weight loss, I decided to consume rich food like the pork knuckles I had at Brotzeit, Vivocity last Saturday. TH and I sort of spent a few seconds debating on what the pronounciation of Brotzeit will likely be. In the end, who cares when the crispy, crispy, oily pork knuckles satisfied our taste buds.

Thanks to ZQ too, who made the effort to make my dream [movie-watching in Singapore] come true. Haha.

Last but not least, I think its also time to put the infamous name to a face.

Tadaa...
