I remembered watching Alvin and the Chipmunks with green mask on my face when fireworks snowed the sky, destroying the beautiful scene of the then starry night. Mr. Marcus was up fighting with an unknown player in some battle, mummy was packing money into the red packets, daddy was blackjacking somewhere.
My chilly red outfit the next day made many exchange glances and I received much new red notes and words of flattery. We blackjacked and feast the entire day. There were not many new faces around so topics were not that hot, just revolving round Obama and how we should preserve our rice bowls in the near future.
By the third day, I was tired of doing the washing up and ended up grumbling how I despised men at that very moment. There is this trend of uncles and cousins (all males) stuffing the sink with their bowls and plates after stuffing their stomach full.
I was fortunate to bump into an old friend whom I have befriended since we were seven. Most friends looked more mature while some grew beards and bigger chests. Some remained the same including, inheriting the 90's hair style.
Mummy took this golden opportunity in mastering the techniques to stalk other people's blogs and Facebook. Sumathi, if you ever see this, just to let you know, mummy likes your nose.
After days of food and entertainment indulgence, I am forced to sit at my desk and stare at Outlook taking its own sweet time loading emails.
I have always counted myself blessed and lucky in many ways despite one or two turbulences I face every year. I couldn't be bothered with the economic recession and the retrenchment period most were facing. Unfortunately, I was struck by a bomb amidst the hundreds emails I received from my clients, just right in time to kickstart the bullish year.
My pay got cut.
Does anyone here have a part-time assignment for me? :(
